If you want the identified areas to appear on the map, you can choose three presentations: name, code or centroids or simply with no identification, according to the display level.
Type of convention refers to the way you want the variable that is going to be graphed to appear, there can be:
Colored poligons, where the geography level chosen for display will be filled with colors that correspond to the range that was defined in the field named Ranges, Legends and Colors.
Discs with Color/Size, with this option there will be collored circles of different size and color, according to the range of each value.
Text with value: Additionally, the system is able to display (or not) the value that it is graphing as a number in the poligon's centroid, next to the chosen identification, if there is one.
About the variables to be represented, there is a list with the descriptive quantifiable variables of the disasters, that may be graphed. The effects and disasters are among them. To select a variable CLICK over it. If you want to change variable, CLICK on another one and the first one will be un-selected, you may choose only one variable.
What concerns to ranges, readings and colors, there appear three colors that are filled in the following manner:
Type here the upper limit of the ranges in growing order.
Write here the title you want each range to take. If you don't type anything, the system will generate an automatic legend in agreement with the ranges.
In order to change the colors of each range, CLICK the range you want to change and then CLICK on a color of the color pallette (down on the screen). To change the pallette colors, CLICK twice on the pallette color.

The figure of the thematical map shows the map and the results of the query according to the selected options concerning its visualization. On the right side there is a function bar for the following purposes:
This button allows to see the map in more detail. By clicking on it point the area you want to see.
Display again. This option allows to show the map as it was initially, it is also useful when there is trash on the screen so you can go back.
Activates a window where you may define titles, texts and/or add notes to the map.
Definition of title texts
To define the text or title you CLICK on the New Text/Title button, this activates the field named Text/Title Characteristics where the desired text has to be typed. Other features that can be defined are: a) Typeface, by CLIKING once over the list (Sources) in the low part of the screen; b) the letter size in pixels, if it is italics, bold; c) the inclination of the text, if you want it to appear horizontally CLICK over the corresponding option; d)the text color, for this you CLICK over the box named TEXTCOLOR and select the color pressing Accept, then go back to the last window.
In case you had CLICK over the Horizontal Text option, CLICK once over the FINISH button. But if you want to place the text with some inclination (not horizontally), CLICK over the Place Text/Title and this will take you to the thematical map where you should indicate the orientation of the text. To do this CLICK where you want the title to begin, WITHOUT letting the mouse button go, pull the frame (the text is inside the frame) until you reach the inclination you want.
Allows to add to the map a frame of legend type with the value ranges represented by colors in the map. By pressing this button the cursor will appear with a plus (+) shape. CLICK where you want the reading to appear, without letting the mouse button go, pull the cursor until the size that you desire for the reading frame has been reached.
Lines
Allows to draw frames, which is ideal to frame a text.
Square
Allows to draw squares, which is ideal to frame a text.
Line Information: (type, width, color)
Line Type: A line may be defined only if its width is one (1), their patterns are: Continuous (---------- ), Segmented ( ---- ---- ---- ), Dotted ( - - - - - - - ), Segmented-dotted ( ---- - ---- - ---- -), Segmented-dot-dot (---- - - ---- - - ----). The width of the line is defined in the Line Width box; it is important to remember that the line types only work for the first pattern which is Continous. To define the line color you must click over the desired color on the colors box. By accepting , the Thematical Map will be edited. If you have picked Trace Lines the cursor will appear as a +, then you must CLICK where you want the line to start and without unpressing the mouse button pull it until you form the line. If you chose to trace rectangles, the cursor will also appear as a +, the first CLICK you make on the map defines the upper left corner of the rectangle, without unpressing the mouse button, pull the cursor until you have given the recatangle the desired form.
By CLICKING on this button there will appear a frame over every line, frame or text. Just CLICK over the object you want to erase as near (to this object) as possible. This function errases the elements one by one, so to errase another one you have to select the option again.
