About DesInventar, Disaster Inventory System, is a conceptual and methodological development about disasters of any magnitude (big, medium and small) generated by natural, technological or anthropic phenomenum. The methodology DesInventar created a software product - designed and developed by investigators of The Network for Social Studies in Disasters Prevention with the general coordination of the project OSSO from the Valle University of Colombia and IRDG in Lima Peru - which as a result has given a Disaster Inventory System, the synthesis of all methodological principles for the treatment given to the information about disasters, the events that originate them, the process and post-analisys of this information. DesInventar allows the geographical location of the disaster, respecting the variables, time/space in which it occurs, helps create a map of the affected area in which the possible variables can be seen through statistic data and graphs organized by administrative political division in each country of the area, giving a global vision and reliable non partial, unreal or unclear. DesInventar counts with the financial support of the ODA - Overseas Development Administration - , today DFID (U.K.) and ECHO. The development of the software was done by Julio Serje in close collaboration of Andrés Velásquez and the observations and suggestions of all the researchers from the Disasters Inventory Project in LatinAmerica. |
