As a kick-off for the project DesInventar in Nepal, a three-day training workshop (20-23 May, 2003) was held in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal. The workshop was sponsored and organized by UNDP Nepal., in coordination with the BCPR group of UNDP in Geneva and Delhi.

Three staff members from UNDP Nepal attended the workshop, as well as a person from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a representative of the National Planning Commission, two staff members from the Government of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, two members from the National Earthquake Society, and two members of Red Cross Society Nepal as well as two members of the new trainers team being trained for the India Inventory Project. The main trainer was Julio Serje, a member of La Red.

This team of 10 members will carry out the historical research for the country, densely populated with over 20 million inhabitants and an area of 140.000 Km2 approximately.

The closing session of the workshop was a round table in which the different actors involved created two teams that will drive the progress of the project, a Steering Committee and a Working Group.
