Development of Training workshops in some cities of Colombia.
Pasto (Colombia)
September 5 and 6 of 2003
Workshop Report [PDF] (SPANISH ONLY) The DesInventar training workshop was carried out in the city of San Juan de Pasto on september 5 and 6 of 2003 in the framework of the agreement between the Seismological Observatory of the Southwest (OSSO) and the University of Nariño-UDENAR, at the university facilities. It counted with the assistance of 15 participants from the Macizo Colombiano Corporation, the Association of Geography Graduates-Geogestión and students mayoring in Geography and Social Studies, being the first also members of the Geography Club of the University of Nariño. These people were endowed with the capacity of entering information through the DesInventar Module, creating an environment to initiate the disaster inventory at a local and regional level and of making queries in an agile and amicable way from the DesConsultar Module.

Workshop Report [PDF] (SPANISH ONLY) A training workshop on Desinventar was carried out in the city of Cali in Colombia on July 24 and 25. It aimed at new users also having the purpose of strenghthening the methodology employed by active users. The workshop counted with the participation of entities from different counties of Western Colombia with whom the DesInventar users network was constituted. This network will be centered, among other activities, on disasters associated with the ENSO phenomenon. It also had the participation of the Baruta municipality of the State of Miranda in Venezuela, which has the support of the CAF for the implementation of the program.

Workshop Report [PDF] (SPANISH ONLY) The second Training Workshop on DesInventar was made in the city of Armenia (Colombia). The Workshop was held by Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli - CISP, and conduced by the Seismological Observatory of the South West - OSSO. It took place at Universidad la Gran Colombia (La Tebaida) during the 2th, 3rd and 4th of December of 2002. People from local and regional committes of Buenavista, Quimbaya, Calarcá and Quindio attended the workshop, as well as people from Red Cross and Fire deparment of Pijao.

Workshop Report [PDF] (SPANISH ONLY) During 21th and 22th of March it was developed in the city of Armenia (Quindio) a training workshop on the use and implementation of DesInventar. It was organized by the Coordination of the Regional Committee of Emergencies of Quindío (CREPAD), specifically by its coordinator Maria Grisela Benitez Ospina and the geologist Javier Alberto Lasso, of this institution. The participants come from employees from different institutions that composed the CREPAD, mainly from the Local Committees of Emergency.

Workshop Report [PDF] (SPANISH ONLY) From 17th to 19th of January (2002), it was developed in the city of Pereira (Risaralda), the first training workshop on the use and implementation of the DesInventar, under the framework of the project Urbanization processes in the region Eje Cafetero. They were 15 participants, who became familiar with the methodological proposal and software DesInventar by means of the practices and exercises that were developed during the training workshop.

By request of the Administrative Department for the Prevention and Attention of Disasters of the Antioquia Department- DAPARD and EAFIT University the Seismological Observatory of the Southwest OSSO conduced a a training workshop on the use of the methodology and software DesInventar. The workshop was organized by the DAPARD and EAFIT University. It took place in Medellin city, with the facilities of this university and was developed during 20th and 21th of October of 2000. They were 20 participants from different institutions: SIMPAD, Corantioquia, Cornare, Corporation Mi Rio, DAPARD and teachers and students of EAFIT University. This workshop was the first one of a total of three developed in Medellin. The following training workshops will be conduced by teacher and students of EAFIT university who attended the wokshop, and haven been working with DesInventar one year ago. During this year of work, EAFIT University and Corantioquia have constructed a data base with a total of 400 reports of slides, floods and flash floods. Corantioquia contributed with 163 reports of disasters of its area during 1996-2000, whereas EAFIT University with a newspaper research (El Colombiano), collected and process data from 263 reports of disasters for almost 100 years (1894 1990). The second workshop it is schedulled for the 3th and 4th of November of 2000 , and third one for the 17th and 18th of November. For more information about the workshops please contact Prof. Geol.
