The "Disaster database comparative analysis" report is available. The
study was completed by LA RED and OSSO, by means of contract with
The United Nations Program for Development, in the framework of
Work Group # 3 (about risk, vulnerability
and impact evaluation), that is part of the Inter Agency Task Force on
Disaster Reduction of the International Strategy on Disaster Reduction. The
objective was the comparison between two types of databases, one of world
coverage (EMDAT of CRED) and the
other one with an emphasis on LatinAmerica (Desinventar Databases), for
four countries in the American continent: Jamaica, Chile, Panamá and Colombia.
The report consists of the main document and 6 annexes.
